It's another sign of spring on Cape Cod, but unlike the reopening of the clam shacks and souvenir shops, this harbinger of good weather swims quietly upstream. It is the annual migration of herring from Nantucket Sound, northward up the Herring river, to Hinckley's Pond in Harwich. Winter storms were not very kind to the route so AmeriCorps volunteers joined conservationists in clearing the Herring River of logs and debris after the water level in the river was lowered at the Pond. Props to all the volunteers who donated their time so that the fish could spawn.
