By now you've heard about the "monster storm" off Cape Cod with an intensification so severe, it was referred to as a"bombogenesis". Essentially, a drop on the barometer of 24 millibars in fewer than 24 hours qualifies as a bombogenesis. The blizzard today was a drop of 43 millibars, making it the strongest nor'easter since 1993. WCVB-TV reported a wind gust of 71 miles per hour in Harwich Port. And that was just the big one. Winds howled from midnight until 8 pm. It's no wonder six-percent of Harwich was without power for a few hours at midday. ![]() My aging german shepherd was the biggest fraidy-cat of all, following me around the house until she settled in the first-floor shower stall. Eika has never been able to maintain her fierce and protective image during high winds or thunderstorms. In this photo she wonders if she will ever feel safe to leave the bathroom again. My long-time friend Donna who lives in Atlanta saw the photo posted on instagram and commented "Please. I'm trying to work here. #poorbaby #giverheratreat". Donna, consider it done.
